Hugh Hefner, founder of famed men’s magazine Playboy, has been an American gentleman since his birth in Chicago, Illinois on April 9th, 1926. After founding Playboy in 1953 (And after mortgaging his furniture, generating a $600 bank loan, and raising $8,000 from 45 investors, including his mother), Hefner has been a symbol of American masculinity. And at 86 years old, he’s still sets a fine example for what being a gentleman is all about.

Great picture of Hefner smoking the pipe. He is exactly what I imagine when thinking about “the American gentlemen.” The American Gentlemen of the week is a great idea, keeps readers wondering who will be next.

This picture is classic. The definition of a gentleman. Way to give tribute to the king of kings Hugh Hefner!
